Well, Phil's yacht is like a 1975 model and it is difficult to keep an old car running from the 1970's because I have an old 1978 and it land yacht so I can't imagine keeping a huge engine running and the compression correct. Boats are holes in the water into which you pour money.
Don't pick on Phil. Phil is smart enough to stay comparatively calm on camera but Keith just wants to belittle people.

Wow, tough crowd!!
Come on guys...we all know the truth is in the editing and the Wizard is obviously edited to be the reality tv "villian". The Wizard certainly isn't my favorite boat but they aren't supposed to be. That is what keeps the show interesting! If not for drama, and suspense and silliness the show would have been gone long ago. As for stupid things captains do, let us not forget the following;
Northwestern - They use a tarp often and we have seen the boys on the stack on more than one occasion in terrible weather struggling with the tarp be it application or removal. Edgar has even commented on how unsafe it was while they were doing it. Those of you saying how stupid Keith was for using a tarp when no one else does obviously don't watch the show all that much. How about tossing Jake out on that motorless tender that the boys said leaked so bad they wouldn't get in it? Or perhaps the time Sig decided to deck load his crab for the sake of a few extra bucks...remember the pots swing wildly on deck and even Edgar saying it was a dangerous decision to make for a few extra dollars.
Time Bandit - Captain Andy has a fetish with playing near the ice and pushing his luck not to mention running over his own pots. And let us remember his brother plowing through the ice on more than one occasion just because he wanted to get home in a boat that was clearly not designed for it.
Captain Phil - One of my favorites but the Cornelia Marie is quite obviously not one of the most seaworthy vessels...we have seen more breakdowns due to shoddy or poor or cheap maintenance than any other boat. I fly helicopters for a living and I am very aware of the importance of excellent maintenance. How many times has Phil blown his engines in the fleets "fastest" boat? Clearly these things are not being overhauled or maintained up to standard.
Do you remember Captain Greg out there in hurricane force winds with a fried blower on one engine? Even his crew who were anxious to make some money were not impressed with the decision to keep fishing with one engine. Or maybe the time he left harbor in bad weather and barely made it through the channel because he was anxious to make some money.
My point is not to criticize as I have no idea what these guys do and how they do it. It would be like any of you arm chair quarterbacks who are not pilots critiquing my piloting decisions. My point is simply twofold;
A: I think Captain Keith is intentionally edited to look like he does because it is good for ratings
B: I think all the Captains have made what we inexperienced people might consider dumb decisions for monetary reasons and Keith is probably no worse than any of the others.
Anyhow....I wish they would bring Maverick back just as long as Rick is at the helm.
Safe fishing!
