Hi guys! It's just amazing what these guys going through. It's so sad to see people loosing their lives actually I have 3 uncles and 1 cousin that drowned while fishing....

It's time to do something about their safety....

Have you heard about the Ovatek life raft before? It's an egg-shaped Fiberglass dual hull life raft, it protects from hypothermia, indestructible, easy to board, you can wait out a storm inside the Ovatek without launching.... it's just an amazing product..please do something about the safety of yourself and your crew... take a few minutes and stop on Ovatek web page... www.ovatek.com and check out all the videos where you see the Ovatek life raft going through all sorts of testing like drop test, destruction test, water tightness test.

Gentlemen, Have a safe season and hope to ear from you....

Remember www.ovatek.com

Sincerely

capt.ron,
Have some F'kin RESPECT man!
Your mum, dad, and rest of your family might miss you too, if you were DEAD!

R.I.P. to all those fishermen/women lost at sea each year worldwide.

P.S. - Cal, regarding the crack about the wives, Get a life!!
P.P.S. - Without the marvellous effort these fishermen (CHEERS) put in, you would have to go out there and get them yourself or go without, because they supply a lot of your supermarket food chains. They make it easy for you to just go down to the shops and buy it locally.

Hi,

The coverage of the loss of the Katmai was very sobering. The fact that it took the chopper 7 hours just to reach the scene really brought home just how isolated they are when things go wrong. It's a big ocean and people are insignificant by comparison. I find myself asking if it's all worth it in the end. How many people sat eating their meal of fish or crab stop to think for one moment the personal suffering and feats of endurance that have gone into putting it on their plate.

I guess the engineer decided to opt for a (relatively) quick death compared with the likely lingering death over many hours with little hope of rescue, very sad.

MROCK,

I hear you about Keith and the greenhorns. I was wondering the same thing. Saw the pattern forming awhile ago, and it was confirmed again last night when I saw the show where him and Monty ran another kid off, then picked up the guy from the Time Bandit, who those guys dumped. Thought is was weird how the greenhorns on the Wizzard never work out. The show glorifies the captains but I think life as a deckhand under some of them, Wizzard and Time Bandit come to mind, can be brutal. Believe the greenhorn pay is low to begin with and I bet it drops way down if you quit before the specific season ends while the captain/owner and rest of the crew put more $$$ in their pocket...I think Monty is a bigger dope/dickhead/A-hole than Keith...though Keith is very manipulative and much more sly...
