Deadliest Catch Season 5 Premieres April 14th!
From the official Deadliest Catch blog:
The new season is right around the corner! That’s right, Season 5 officially kicks off Tuesday, April 14, at 9 p.m. E/P. We know everyone has been waiting patiently and trust us — it’ll be worth every moment. The crews of the Northwestern, Cornelia Marie, Wizard and Time Bandit all return this year led by your favorite captains. And joining them are newcomers to the series, the crews of the Lisa Marie and Trailblazer.
Season 5 is just three short weeks away! Is everyone as pumped as I am???

Wow just YESTERDAY I was looking at my blogroll and wondering if this blog was still active…then I said to myself “I hope there’s a new post when/if this show ever comes on the air” and today here it is!
YES I am excited about a new season! I found out a while back that one of my online blogger friends has a husband who does camera work for the show. Needless to say; she doesn’t get much sleep when he’s off filming; it’s so dangerous.
I’ve always been a Northwestern fan, last season I really started enjoying footage of the Cornelia Maria. I think the reason I like those two the best are because they’re such a family (literally).
I love it when Sig gets bossy and Edgar gets stubborn…but I did worry about their sanity when stayed up for like 48 hours straight. Nothing good can come from a sleep deprived person working a dangerous job.
Honestly I wonder about the safety of the ship, when they’re so tired. Just like emergency room doctors who do 24 hour shifts: scary.
Anyway thanks for the heads up about the new season!! Can’t wait!!

YEPPIE!!!! We are so wanting to see our favorite deep sea fishermen return! What a long lonely time it has been without them!!!!! I just want to know how Phil is doing!

Wow. Has it been 5 years already? I remember when I first caught the miniseries that Discovery aired, and was just floored by what these guys do. It’s so great to get to immerse myself in this real ‘man’s world’, and really have a sincere admiration and respect for what those guys do. Great captains, great crews, and they couldn’t have found anyone better to narrate than Mike Rowe. This show is really a great package, and I’m looking forward to a fifth round. Good hunting!

Alright, I’ve been waiting for this for awhile. This is quite possible one of the best shows ever aired. Its so gripping, and the crews just draw you in with the way they face danger every day, and just shrug it off. Ill be a happy man on the 14th when this season starts.

Its Great to see that captain Phil Harris is going to be back on the show again. It wouldn’t be the same without him. I can’t wait till the 14th, its gonna be awesome. I here the fisrt episode is about how the captains can’t set sail b/c they are having a hard time paying for last years expenses like the mechanical problems on their boats!

Oh man, I can’t wait for my show to start again. I’m all set this season…I have my official Cornelia Marie crew member shirt that my brother got for me during the off season and I can’t wait to wear it. This is going to be an exciting season, as friends of my brother are going to be on the “opie” part of the show this season. A new vessel is going to join the show and the entire crew (as well as ship) are from Kodiak. Here’s to a safe and exciting Season 5!!! See you on the high seas!!!!

When do the webisodes get posted? You are able to watch other shows from the major networks after 3am the morning after the show airs. Does Discovery do this too?

I got hooked on the show the first year. I am always so amazed by the courage and insanity involved in doing what they do for a living. They are all truly amazing men. What do the men do when they are not crabbing? What else do they fish for? Other jobs? As long as they fish, we will keep on watching.
April 28th, 2009 at 11:29 pm
I just want to let all these captains and their crews know how much I enjoy watching them. I just read a comment where a lady that has 2 boys and would take care of Phil if he would come to Alabama.
I dont think that Phil will ever leave his first love the sea and be happy. I am watching now as how sad he is with his boat leaving port without him. If he never fishes again He needs to stay close to the sea as it is in his blood and lives in his soul.
Phil if you hook up with a lady make sure she places you first and that means standing with you and the sea, even if you dont fish again you need to be close to the sounds, smells and ther things that have been apart of your entire life.
God Bless You All.

So happy to see another season, I hope all the guys all original guys return. Its one of the (few) shows I am dedicated to watching. I do have to wonder why there are no women on the boats for like being the cooks Im sure there are a few that would take it on-does anyone know why?

While i was watching the show .Keith’s boat the Wizard was adrift in St Paul harbor ,he had a fuel problem,he was drifting close to the rocks when they finally got the boat started .my comment is you see Keith on the radio and instead of using Mayday He was saying Pon ,Pon ,pOn-what is pon and what does it mean?
I have one more question I hope you can answer for me :Does the Maverick still fish for crab and why don’t we see the maverick on the show anymore .Does Blake Painter still run the boat?.
By the way i have been a fan since it started on the air ,thanks for a great show

September 10th, 2009 at 12:24 am
I just found this show and I’m HOOKED. I found old seasons on NetFlix but can’t seem to find it on my TV. Is the 2009 season over???? Anyone know when the new season starts?
September 14th, 2009 at 2:33 am
The 2009 season is over and the 2010 season will probably premier in March or April of next year. Maybe a little later than that.

Why oh Why do I have to wait so long in between season’s of the Deadliest Catch? It Just happens to be the best show on television! Even the old reruns are worth watching over and over again I have been hooked since season 1, these guys are brutally honest, about how they feel about crabbing and the camera’s in thier face, thats what makes it so good. I hope Phil has rested and recooperated during this long abscence, we sure missed him. As for all you other captains out there in Alaska I missed you too. Those lobstermen, and big fishermen can’t hold a candle to my crab guys. Keep them coming we need more lots more like you.

I just saw this ‘news’.
One man who’s mold was broken, young in heart and strong in soul… rest - you are with your peace and old friends and family now. Your sons will carry your ‘banner’ and strength. You loved the sea and she loves you and will be long to be forgotten by those too familiar tempests…
Thanks for your time and I will miss you - as you are rare and very real…
