First of all, for those who have posted about the truck. The truck was " Green" all things on it, or in it that could polute the Bering Sea were meticulously removed. Check out Disco's comments.

I personally love the show, I don't think the guys have gone " Hollywood" as some fans have put it. Are they a bit awestruck by the roller coaster ride that has come from the shows popularity? Definately!! They are now and forever will be Fisherman! Name one person who was just living their lives..doing the job they love, and suddenly it gets put on television and everything changes in a heart beat. Wouldn't you be a little overwhelmed? Come on now be honest.

I've posted many times before.. on other sites about the bashing. It saddens me, and it makes me embarrassed to call myself a fan in the same category as some of the punks I see on these boards that post such wretched comments about the various Capt.s and crews. It's down right shameful. These are just people... people like you and me. They work hard, and take care of their families. They have no control over how the show is edited, or what is aired or not aired, or in what sequence.

Do you really think it's ok to sit back in your Lazy Boys and make such derrogatory remarks about these men? Seriously do you? We can't even begin to know them on a personal level. We're fans of a freakin TV show for crying out loud. Enjoy it for what it is... .Entertainment and stop personally attacking them.

Ok I have said my 2 cents worth.... go ahead attack me now... we all know you will, because thats just the caliber of people like you, who bash others to feel better about themselves

It is hardly surprising that a captain who will very unprofessionally berate and disrespect his own captain brother (in front of some of their shared crew, no less) about what he later calls "a brother thing" would think twice about wasting time AND money to look for a spit cup. The spitoon search pales in comparison to the very poor decision of making Monte look like someone who does not deserve or require respect. Take it to the wheel house or the state room for crying out loud! Now I am not saying that perhaps some of it wasn't deserved, but in order for Monte to effectively captain during his next season the crew can NOT see his abilities and judgement questioned by another authority figure! There will always be whiney, insubordinate deckhands who look for anything to gripe about. I can just hear them now-"Why should we take his crap, his own brother says he doesn't know what he's doing!" When a shark smells blood....etc. etc. I like Keith, so I hope it was just a momentary lack of good judgement. But then there WAS that spit cup incident......

"What happened conveniently to the gas/oil and fluids tanks. Its a bio-hazzard if not handled properly and one could be fined BIG time by the EPA for dumping illegally into the oceans in front of what, 40 million potential viewers."

This is the the sort of TV armchair pronouncements that will result in 2009 U.S.A, going through the same catastrophe as 18 century France, 1917 Russia and 1938 Germany. They sink dozens of giant ocean going freighters, just a few miles off the beaches of Miami to create artificial reefs. About one in five of them develop minor oil "bleeds" after sinking. And those are "ocean freighter" not "old pickup truck" type bleeds. Some of them go on for 7-10 months and divers can't find where they are coming from. And still they continue the program, because the benefits make those oil bleeds seem irrelevant. If they dumped that pickup just as it was - with no prep whatsoever. - the number of sea creatures that would use it to survive and help their offspring to survive in the middle of that bare sea floor will be in the millions. While that pint of oil that was left in it will dissipate without harming anyone. If beaches off Miami survive dozens of freighters, a pint of oil in the middle of the Bering sea is nothing, except a cause celeb to insult clear thinking people. Hell, that ANWR that we can't use is leaking hundreds of gallons of oil a day through the natural seepage through the rocks and straight into the ocean. And that's heavy unrefined crude - far worse than anything that could be in that truck. France's tragedy was destroying it's nobility, Russia's tragedy was destroying it's rich, Germany's tragedy was destroying it's non-arians, America's tragedy will be destroying those who refuse to be stupid.

What some people need to understand is, these guys have all the time in the world to figure out what prank they can pull on someone. Working those long hours makes you goofy as hell. What else is there to do?, not much. All we could do during breaks in the military during long day was figure out who we were going to mess with. I also work in the North Sea Laying pipeline. When you're the new guy on a boat or ship, you're a target.

The cup o noodle spit cup, well Ive always thought chewing tobacco is gross. Seriously I find it a stretch to believ that $$ motivated ppl would waste that much time to find the damn thing. then again fisherman are EXTREMLY superstious. As far as the pick up, I think the prank was partially thought up for the camera but ehh who cares it was funny as hell and they sure had to work for it. As far as them dumping it, their was nothing illegal about it at all. They didn't violate any EPA laws as the truck had been stripped of it's engine and tranny as well as any haz-mat matierials. AS far as the chassis, nothing illegal about that in international waters unless it is a bio-hazard it can go over the side. Most would be shocked at just how much junk is down there. However as far as the truck goes, it might actually prove to be a boon. Don't forget various eco gruops often sink boats and throw chassis into stratigc places to form shelters for marine life.
