I have to love this series! I have a home in Yarmouth Nova Scotia so you can tell I love the water. I can certainly appreciate what courage and fortitude it takes to be out on the water in such unpredictable conditions. This woman would not be that tough. I have to say though, as a woman and an older one at that, these fellas sure are handsome and what makes them so apealing is that they aren’t “22 year old pretty boys but real men”. Dare I say this series can be ’soft porn’ for the women of the world? I miss watching it in the off season when I am back in New Hampshire. Those guys could melt the snow on the coldest of winter days!
Seriously though, it is a hard days work and the payoffs aren’t always garanteed to be great. The wives and families have to be alone during the season. A storm can mean fear for the safety of those they love. Hats off to them as well.
Perhaps it is the lure of adventure, a love of the ocean, great memories or dreams of what we could have been; but thanks Discovery for this series. And to the men out on the water–fair winds, good catch and a safe return home.

  3. Phil Says:

…no doubt about it for me the best real life series ever…my father wa a wwII veteran and made the aleutian island landings aboard LST 205 a uscg manned landing ship…his stories of the weather and starkness stuck w/ me thur the years…in my ‘bucket’ is a trip via alaska marine highway to dutch harbor…my wife thinks i’m crazy but she is a trooper and will most likely come along…thanks to the fan site…as to what i would like to see more of is the family interactions but as noted that is private stuff..i enjoy and admire how the love for the fishing has been passed on to generations…also admire and thank God for the uscg and the work they do of rescue and training…take care…

  4. Darryl Says:

This show is the best thing on TV period! Me and my wife watch every episode everytime its on.Keep up the good work!!!!!

  5. Pam Says:

Does anybody know if they will be doing the usual of running last years episodes before the new ones??? I love to watch the all day marathons.

    Pam

  6. Linda Says:

I could watch this simply all day long.

Living in a fishing town in the UK , can really relate to what these guys are going through.

  7. JANI Says:

I love this show! My family and I never miss it. I have it set to record on my DVR. My favoeite boat is the Northwestern with the Hansen brothers. They seem to make more money than the rest because Sig pushes them. But Sig also sells his crabs at a different dock than some. For instance he made more money for less poundage than Phil of The Cornelia Marie did last season. Maybe Phil should try selling his take at the dock Sig does. I can hardly wait for the show to begin again. I would also like to commend the shoe for using Mike Rowe. His voice is a perfect match for this manly show. I can only hope that there are not as many deaths. Their wives and girlfriends are very special people to live with such uncertainty when these men go to sea. April 20th can’t come soon enough for me,especially to see the rookies who generally are too namby pamby for the job. Bring on the real men I say.

  8. lizzie Says:

hey i love dedliest catch and watch it all the time, if i wasn’t living in Plymouth, England i’d get on one of those boats and go out fishing with them! it’s so cool i love all of it and wish there were some dead hot fisherman around these parts ha ha!!!!!!!

  9. Philby Says:

Hey. I would like to say that the show is the best show that i have ever seen. The show is so amazing and so real. Coming from a similar background form a fishing town in australia i am fasinated with the film. i can not wait untill the new series is on again. love watching the marathones they are great. The crew on the boats are the best. Being a fisherman my self and knowing many fisherman those men on the deadliest catch are heroes. My favourete boat is the North Western. its a beauty

can anyone tell me who performs the opening theme tune for the UK shows of Deadliest Catch? I’ve googled it and searched for the last hour to try and find it to no avail. if anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.

I would love a Job. I think I can man up to the challenge. I was in the Army, I played college Football, but not really in to the corprate life style, Just a thought, I know this dream will never come true, just don’t think it’s a problem asking. 215-609-0500

  17. Leslie Says:

There’s very few men in the world that can do your job, much less find the humor in it. Thank you so much for the show and for putting up with the cameras so we can be there too.
    THANX LES

  18. Daniel Says:

I love this series, but I think someone should just punch Sig in the face. He deserves it as he is just such a jerk. I can understand being the captain and being strict, but Sig is just a total jerk who needs to be taught a lesson about people and humanity.

  19. Joyce Says:

Does Phil Hansen own his own boat, and what does he do on his off time?

can anyone tell me who performs the opening theme tune for the UK shows of Deadliest Catch?
    ————————————————————————————————————-

I believe it Bon Jovi, Wanted Dead Or Alive. I’ve downloaded and listened to it, it sounds familiar but wasn’t the tune I was looking for. Give it a try though.

P.S. I’d love the challenge of the job too, good on you guys.

  21. sherry Says:

i have one thing, i dont like they way they treat the greenhorns! they act like they where born doing that job.. they once where a green horn TOO! i get very p,o, at the capt,, they have had yrs an the they have not,, to me all about the money,, fishing, hah

  22. dave Says:

My wife and I love the humor. More of the praks please. We loved the one with the porta potty. Also, what ever happened to the Maverick?

  23. Anonymous Says:

if you can watch this all day long I would say to you “GET A LIFE ” for real!

  24. dave Says:

why in god’s name don’t your survival suits come equipped with global position systems and waterproof flashing lights! It should be a Coast Guard requirement!

  25. Pat Says:

I don’t think the show is as good this year. They need to get rid of the 2 new boats and do more on Phil,Sig and Johnathon. The 2 new captains are boring.

  26. Joe Says:

Why aren’t Captain Phil and Jonathon on this years show?

  27. shelby Says:

  30. Nancy of Georgia Says:

Just happen to watch one series lately and now I love every one of them except the commercials. For the longest time I wanted to know how these crabs are caught, finally, somebody made a real life show of it. Please do not stop making every season of the show. I happen to love crab legs too…They are delicious! !!

  31. Suzanne of Virginia Says:

I sure did like the Father’s Day marathon all day long! I can never get my fill of these amazing men at work! Now, I can understand why these things (crab) cost so much! Because I missed some of the newer episodes can someone catch me up on the accident w/Phil. Tuesday night I will see if they show something on that. Please let me know. Time Bandit, CM, & NW are my favorites, the Wizard is good too! Love them all!

  32. Testttyq Says:

    Hi

    G’night

  33. bobby robbins Says:

After every new season, the show is getting to be all about playing it up for the camera. The original americas deadliest season was the best. The first and second seasons were the best, the third and especially the fourth suck. They need to change ALL boats every season. I am sick of seeing Jonathon, Phil, and Sig. Also, Jake Anderson should have pounded the crap out of Matt Bradley when he fell during their scuffle.

  34. PHIL DETROIT MI Says:

GREAT SHOW LOVE IT KEEPING IT REAL BUT YOU COULD CHANGE UP THE SHIPS THANKS PHIL DETROIT MI

  35. Amelia Says:

My prayers go out to Phil each day. Hang in there, God Bless.

  36. Jean Says:

Hey,this is a great show. With real men at work.I love all of the capts.and ships. But my favorites are Jonathan and Phil, they keep it real, and if their not going to be on the up coming shows,it will not be the same. But their health and life is more important than any dollar amount.Praying for you Phil take care of yourself.Good Luck Jonathan.

  37. Sue Irwin Says:

how is Phil? Is he back on his boat Yet?

  38. Michelle Says:

Hi We all love this show its great. My family and I seen Sig Hansen in Flordia @ Disney world in Dec 2007 we didnt get to meet him. so I’m asking if there is going to be a day where the public can meet all the crews from the boats? That would be exciting to alot of us.

  39. andrew adams Says:

Hi all, I love crab meat regardless the price. Phil if you ever look at this site your are in my prayers and I hope you get to feel better. too all you guys thanks, you are in my prayers.

  40. America's Most Gangsta Says:

This show rocks! Makes you really appreciate crabmeat, just like Survivorman makes you appreciate drinking water!

  41. Capt Hugh jr Says:

Well first of all, some of the captains like to show off…like that dickhead that owns the wizzard kieth …he dont even act like a capt…ive been a fisherman sense i was 12 on my own, east coast,,when i was younger than 12 i use to go on shrimp boats,,i got cussed a lot,,its not worth it,while the capt sets in the chair all day ,they dont show you when he gets tired he lays down dont think for a min he dont…im a fisherman i no,,that body cant stand but so much..i hope phil gets straighten out…as now we are off nj trying to catch flounder..Good luck to all..

  42. Larry Says:

    Break that scrip out phil.

  43. wesley Says:

Hey you guys all the capts has myspace, add them they will accept you..

  44. Cory Says:

I think the “mystique” of Deadliest Catch is not knowing about their personal lives. Why ruin a good thing? No “Mama Drama” please!
We all love & miss you, Phil…

  45. ANN & DAVE Says:

    KUDOS TO CORY~~
NO PERSONAL INFO NEEDED ON THIS SHOW. WE LIKE IT JUST AS IT IS.

  46. Debbie Says:

Been in the Bering sea in the summer that was enough for me, my hat is off to these guys they must certianly have spines of stainless steel. I am not sure I have a favorite boat each has it’s own specialty. I like the Northwestern because they are from my home town. But Johnathan and Andy Hilstrand with the time bandit remind me more of the fisherman I have known over the years and they make me laugh alot. And what can I say as a parent I can relate to Phil on the Cornelia Marie may the force be with you Phil and keep that credit card in your pocket from now on. :).

  47. Don & Cindy Says:

This show is addicting.. We start watching and cant stop, even if they are re-runs! Hope they keep making new ones. Their survival suits should have flashing lights, and also built in warmers… like those little disposable ones you can buy. We look at crab a whole different way now, knowing what it takes to catch them.

  48. liz Says:

keith colburn should be replaced. he is almost always negative and grumpy. he has the most problems with his crew, so it must be HIS lack of positive leadership that needs adjustment, not his crew.

  49. Gail Says:

Edgar, who is the most skilled, hard working, and level headed person I have ever had the pleasure to see at work has had NOTHING bad to say about his captain/ brother in the interviews I have seen. In fact, he is quick to defend Sig. I suspect there is more humanity to Sig than we know. We only see him at work. Besides, what does fishing have to do with being “nice?”
To Josh and Jake - Be strong and always honor the name”Harris.” We are all pulling for your Dad. We hope to see him in the “wheelhouse” next season or, at best, with a good looking mermaid on his arm.

  50. Larry Says:

My favorite show! Discovery Channel needs to have a contest for a chance to go to sea on your favorite ship! What a great show! The ”Time Bandit” is my favorite crew and ship.

  51. Terry Says:

I would like to know what happened to Captian Phil of the Corenelius Maria . I have missed the last few shows., by the way Phil and his crew are the best on the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  52. Chris Says:

    Sunday, July 13, 2008

    To whom it may concern,

There is someone plagiarizing the show in Seattle. On July 10th 2008, I heard a radio advertisement on The New B97.3 FM advertising an event at Fishermen’s Terminal in Seattle. The ad stated, “On Sunday July 13, 2008 come down to Fishermen’s terminal, to see the Deadliest catch boats and meet the Captains and crew of the Deadliest Catch”. The ad also included the names of, Sig Hansen and Phil Harris as captains to be met at this event. In addition, the proceeds were advertised to benefit the Fishermen’s Memorial Fund. The event was supposed run from 12pm to 3pm that day.

I took my family down to meet Sig, Phil and the crew of their boats. When I arrived there was only one boat the “Sea Star”. This boat was NOT part Deadliest Catch to my knowledge. The banners on the boat displayed “Discovery Channel” and “Deadliest Catch” television show. When I boarded the boat, it was obvious to me that these men had no ties to the show what so ever. The supposed “tour and t-shirts” that they were selling had no relation to the show or the Discovery Channel.

Needless to say my family and I were very disappointed and want you to know both your channel and show are being plagiarized. In addition these people are using the Fishermen’s Memorial Fund to draw crowds and are obviously not donating to this cause.

If you need further info, I do have a photo that shows the boat and banners advertising the event. Feel free to contact me at the following email address: ChrisKarlB@comcast.net I hope you are able to address this matter with the captain and crew of the Sea Star.

    Thank you for your time.

extremly fascinated watching deadliest catch cannot image the wrath of nature and the temperments of all connected with the trip WOW!!! love the bond with phil harris and sons love the remark from phil “now you know why lions ate their young” also the hilstrands the “downhome boys” and sig and his crew best to all on future trips and best to phil on minding the doc and last but not least jake and josh you have the world by the tail twist it wisely !!!

  56. mark a #8 {lucky #} Says:

My prayers go out to Phil Harris and sons Josh and Jake.I am a Christian and believe God will heal and comfort this family during this time and will look forward to Phil getting back on board and do what he loves doing, fishing. I pray for ALL fishermen every where that they come back safely. EVeryone on Cornelia Marie does an outstanding job .Keep the faith. Murray does an outstanding job as engineer and filling in at helm.

  57. mark a #8 {lucky #} Says:

Just want to let all Dutch Harbor Captains and crews know they are Appreciated for their bravery and hard work under the most adverse conditions imaginable. I was in the Navy for 6 years so I know what 30-40foot waves look AND feel like. I rode around theNorth Atlantic on A DDG{guided missile destroyer} They are top heavyand take rolls like a prize fighter and still come back for more. I am proud to have done it and would do it again. I love fishing too,I have 8 rods and over half are new or have only fished a time or two. They are all open baled so Ican sort them out if anything goes wrong. Work smart not hard.I know what freezing cold is like too,I,ve stood many a deck watch on the bow, stern and port and starboard sides in my dress Navy issue shoes:not made for cold weather ha!ed closed face reels before ,have one you have to breaqk her down to fix your snarls and there goes your fishing Anyway thanks 4 all you guys do and love your show.My typing isn’t the best as I have to hunt and pick letters maybe I should take a course to build my confidence so I can type faster and more accurately {without looking at the board so much] Just wondering, would there ever be a Chance of a movie relasa

  59. bender Says:

the deadliest catch tv show is a great way to pass time and each person on the show seems to fit their position and place in life perfectly. Most of the crew members seem to know their place and enjoy it very much. I think that most of captains are genuine though sometimes over dramatic but then again anytime a person is on camera they become an actor.
The true actor on his show though is Capt. Keith Colburn - how he maintains the belief that he is heterosexual is an incredible acting job. It is obvious that he is in the bait closet. Always so angry and self agrandizing about his temper and rants. He uses is moods swings like there is something to fear. When he is the one in fear - the fear of coming out. Just shutup about yourself and have fun as much as possible because it looks like you lack confidence when you have to rely on defining yourself in “future moods”.
    “Now come out and fish”

  60. RD Robinson Says:

Hey everyone I need your help. I need to know the episode that one of the greenhorns is horsin’ around and swings himself outside of the boat on the the smaller crane. He nearly gets chucked into the water when he slams into the side of the boat. Luckily he holds on and his buddy pulls him back into the boat. I am referencing this in a paper I am writing and can’t remember what the episode number it is. I appreciate the help.

  61. bender Says:

Robinson - I can only tell you that it was on the time bandit and it was the hillstrand kid.

  62. Vicki, NH Says:

    Love Ya

  63. Milton Oglesby Says:

I do love the sea, I do a whole lot of deep sea fishing off the coast of Texas, Even though deadliest catch is a different kind of fishing it is very exciting to watch, those men really know thier jobs. I respect the sea when I go fishing and the weather is always nice, I can not imagine if the weather off the Texas coast was like the bering sea. Keep up the good work and I hope Phil does get better, but he does need to quit smoking.

Too all my deadliest catch boys…….

I can not believe I got hooked on a crab fishing show!!!! I am 42 years old, mother of 3 adult children; I’m back in school for Criminal Justice and can’t miss an episode of Deadliest Catch. It just seems absurd for me…lol

However, I have gained an enormous amount of respect for what all of you do and it has broken my heart to see how quickly a life can be lost, I really had no idea.

To Phil…..please stop smoking! My dads name was Phil Harris and you don’t know how frighteningly close your health resembles what his was. He refused to give up the cigarettes and paid with his life. There is one less Phil Harris in this world let’s not make it two ok ;)

To the Hillstrand Brothers! You guys are just adorable!

  67. Kate from Iowa Says:

I am 43 Shelynn and I’m addicted too. Sometimes it is hard for me to catch on TV because I can’t afford expanded cable and comes on at weird times here. I am with you, I have total respect for all the boats and crews–talk about heros and superman. I didn’t know that they really existed. I am totally in love with Jonathan, which I am probably too old for or he’s probably married. Words can’t describe how he makes me feel!!

  68. Born in Fairbanks, AK Says:

Being a native born Alaskan, in my earlier days in the U.S. Navy, requested early transfer to my next assignment of arctic condition trials for amphibious assault hovercraft. Breaking ice in the frozen waters of the Bering Sea was terrific experience. Also, we stopped in Dutch Harbor for refueling and supplies. The phrase ENTERING DUTCH HARBOR, CHECK YOUR ATTITUDE is so true in the way it reflects way of life for folks that choose to call this place home. Very thankful for my brief experience in this part of the world. The show is awesome. Reality TV at its finest PERIOD!!!

  69. sue Says:

Anyone knows when Google Chrome will be released? I like this browser so much, but beta version embarrassed me.

  71. Will Says:

I fished the Opilio season this year and can’t wait to watch it when 08 deadliest catch comes out, although my boat was not televised it’s still awesome to see my bros doing their thing on T.V.. For anyone that wants to do this, i bought a one-way ticket to dutch harbor and walked the docks till someone hired me. It’s the old fashioned way and a little risky but it works if you’re persistent. Most people get hired in Seattle but if you’re lucky someone will get thrown in jail and you can grab their spot on the boat. Be prepared though cause if you’re stranded in Dutch and run outa money no one cares. They have bigger things to worry about than that. Also the canneries might hire you but that job freakin sucks. I would much rather crab that work on the slime-line at a cannery! If anyone is serious and wants more info email me and i’ll answer any questions
