I'm a recreational sailor and love the series. Yet I find that, with few exceptions, most of the episodes focus on dropping the crab pot, retrieving the crab pot, and stuffing the crabs in the holds. While this is interesting, I'd like to see more detail about managing the boats in the crab fleet. How, for example, do the captains where to drop the pots? Is is water depth, temperature, lat/long or what?

You never see a captain steering the boat based on the wind/waves he is taking. More on that would help. You do see the captains pushing and pulling on what appears to be a combined throttle/gear shift, but no explanation of how the captain actually captains the boat is ever provided.

I'd also like to see more information on "boat management." How do the prepare the boat for the season? How much fuel, food, spare parts and so forth are needed? How do they figure it? What does all that cost compared to what they net out of the crabs they catch?

Why don't more of the boats in the fleet try to catch other fish, like Sig did on the Northwestern, in order to maximize profits?

Just watching the pots go in, pots get hauled, and crab being dumped is getting a bit repititious. I love the series, but would like you to expand it so that the viewer has a fuller sense of the whole process, not just one particular piece of what it's like to be a crab fisherman.

I've always enjoyed the show with all the antics. However I think it would be a great idea to do a show on the possibilities and practices of actualy landing a job onboard acrab boat. I'm sure it is not as easy as being in the right place at the right time. You have referenced to many times, but actual facts are skecthy at best. I am not considering a trip to Alaska [I like the warm wheather] But it may help othersto know what to expect.
And on an unrelated note I was almost glad to see the crew of the Northwestern come down with the flu. I say almost because I would not wish the flu on anyone. But glad to they are not superman.

I keep wondering how much of those kings are edible besides the legs? I just imagine putting a whole crab in a large pot to cook and serving it. On the Dungeness crab a large part of the body is edible. As far as the boats go I miss Ragnhild and Donna. I seem to remember a boat that had the captain's daughter on it also. What happened to Larry's geriatric crew and his boat? They showed up the younger crabbers.

This is just the best show on TV right now...you can't top Deadliest Catch!! I would love to see the Rollo come back to the show, they were a fun crew to watch. My favorite will always be the Northwestern with the Corneila Maria and the Time Bandit close behind. More episodes and bloopers would be a great edition to the show and I think that everyone has to agree with that!! I don't think that adding more boats would be a good idea...it would be too hard for Discovery Channel to spread the time out between too many boats. I would not want to see only a few minutes of each boat, that would suck. I would love to see the Farwest Leader return.

My grandson, Shea Long, is on the Time Bandit. Since he lives in Alaska and I in Texas, I sure would like to see more of the Time Bankit and of course, Shea Long. Heard that for a time during the summer he was the captain of the boat. Supposedly, he is the youngest captain. Hope you show more of the Time Bandit and Shea Long in the fourth season.
