Another Season in the books!
Wow, what a season!
From deadly storms to bone crippling ice, Season 3 of Deadliest Catch was (in my opinion) the best and most engaging season yet. Broken Engines & Propellers, Daring Rescues, and new greenhorns tested the seasoned crews.
Will there be a Season 4? I sure hope so. I can’t imagine spending Tuesday nights watching anything else.
Let us know your final thoughts and hopes for next season.

Wow! What a season. It was already the best, but that last episode has set the bar VERY high for Season 4. Between the greenhorn going crazy, and Time Bandit in the ice…I hatde to see it end.
This season was off the charts. They’d be silly not to do a 4th.
Great Blog!

Keep up the good work. Put on season 4. Let’s hope they all make it back safe. I know it’s not funny but I’m still wiping tears from laughing so hard at the camerman who stepped into the crab tank.
This has to be the best show on tv.

I have done this before, but I wouldn’t want to go back and do it again as the fisherman or crabber. I would like to work as part of the Film Crew!!
And I think they shoud add shows with Longliner’s and Trawler’s also…

I agree with the ‘more episodes’ sentiment. How could Discovery Channel go wrong with more episodes? My family and I never missed an episode, and was disappointed when the season was over. Tuesday’s were not the same
Why let those Lexus advertising dollars go uncollected………..

I have to say that what the discovery channel has done a gerat job. As a crab fisherman myself I truly believe that what is being segmented on the series could be put to test and that is they should hire me to give them more direction in there productions, for example whats to be expected when situations that exemplify the true blood and gut of the fishery can more accurately be wittnessed by the viewers or snivlers as I may. The truth of the matter is that only ministcual percentiles of the population can withstand such vigor and to do it season after season with the help of God. Two a days athletes, wasnt cow dung, Buttercups. Lived it and loved it and made it. My hats are of to men of the sea! And thanks to discovery for those that could not. Thank you discovery! I’ve love to see more technical stuff in series 4. More about the equipment and the design of the different boats, eg the differences between purpose built boats and converted boats. When does a boat become obsolete or worn out? When we see a pot being raised, there are little bits missed out of the sequence; I’d like to see fewer bits missed out so I can see the whole process. How are shot lines extended, for instance, what kind of knots do they use? What happens to a pot when the shot line becomes taught and the pot is violently tugged, at an angle, from the sea bed? Why are all the pots the same dimensions; is the design regulated? Why do some boats use three floats on the shot line instead of two? How much maintenance is required for each boat each season and year? Do boat owners trade quota; eg if someone wants to operate a larger boat, do they buy extra quota from older boats being retired? If a boat is lost or damaged, do they rent quote to someone else while they get a replacement or sell quota if they leave the industry?
And what about the crab processing; it would be nice to see the whole processing operation. And the crabs that are thrown back; do we know if they really survive or whether the trauma of being flung like a frisby and landing splat on the sea surface kills them? What about the life cycle of the crab?
Ok, just a few ideas off the top of my head.
Connor.

the northwestern is the best boat out there. they dont have the equipment on their side; its the years of fishing under sigs belt that gives him the natural… uuh.. ability to kick butt.
