According to the Hansen brothers, the best way to get a foot in the door is to land a job with one of the processing facilities. They'll pay your airfare and lodging to get and stay there. The money's crap but that's how you'll meet the folks in the business, and every now and again a ship will come in that needs an extra hand. If you're serious about wanting a job in the crabbing industry, that seems to be the best bet at this point. Its all sort of a crap shoot, but just think about the bragging rights if you were to land a job on a crab boat - let alone one of the Deadliest Catch vessels!
